Natural Intelligence: A Unique and Tailormade Office Design

Creating a Dynamic and Collaborative Workspace

The inspiration for the Natural Intelligence office design came from the concept of indie pop music, which aims to attract a wide audience while maintaining its independent and targeted nature. The design team translated this idea into a visual language through materiality, lighting, graphics, custom carpentry, and art. The project's plan takes cues from the jagged and nonlinear structure of the ToHa Tower, emphasizing geometric accents where different materials meet.

One of the standout features of the Natural Intelligence office is the use of partitions painted in carefully selected colors. Each partition is divided into four parts, with varying levels of opacity. This design choice creates visual interest and allows for different levels of privacy and transparency throughout the space. The floors and ceilings also play a significant role in defining different areas of the office, with carpet tiles, parquet, and colorful painted ceramic tiles used to differentiate between spaces. Custom-made ceilings, such as a 3D grid incorporating integral light fixtures and hanging geometric metal planters, add a touch of creativity and visual appeal.

Spanning three entire floors of the ToHa Tower, the Natural Intelligence office covers an impressive 10,000 square meters. The layout of the office is carefully designed to promote collaboration and creativity. Open space workstations are strategically placed along the curtain wall to maximize natural light and views. Executive meeting rooms separate the open spaces, while general meeting rooms and phone booths are located along the building's core. Informal gathering areas, kitchenettes, diners, and multifunctional seating elements are incorporated throughout the space to encourage interaction and a sense of community.

The design process for the Natural Intelligence office involved overcoming the challenge of transitioning the entire company from private rooms to an open space constellation. The solution was to create semi-open spaces with clear boundaries between workstations and corridors, ensuring employee privacy. Custom-made workstations with tall storage cabinets and lower partitions were designed to provide both functionality and privacy. Private meeting rooms were also planned for each executive, allowing for confidentiality and convenience.

The Natural Intelligence office design is a testament to the power of combining popular appeal with a tailormade approach. By drawing inspiration from indie pop music and incorporating unique elements, RoyDavid Architecture has created a dynamic and collaborative workspace that reflects the company's values and fosters creativity.

This Design was awarded Bronze in the A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that contribute to quality of life improvements.
